Carte postale du Chateau Papounan du début du XXe siecle

Papounan's History

The castle takes its name from Chemin Papounan, which crosses the eponymous plot of vines located at the rear of the property. Built at the end of the 19th century, it belonged to the Merigot Vennat family for a long time, under the name Château Domeyne , which still exists and produces excellent wine in the Saint-Estéphe appellation.

Towards the end of the 20th century, the Leemann family, originally from Switzerland, bought it and added an extension to the south and converted the attic. Since October 2022, we have been the owners of Château Papounan and welcomed our first customers for the evening of December 31.

Thanks to Claire Steimer, for her research on the heritage of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The postcard above comes from the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region website
